The purpose of a cover letter is to get someone to read your resume. Each cover letter needs to be unique and sound unique, customized to the position and person addressed by it. The letter needs to be addressed to an individual or don\’t bother sending it. If you don\’t have a name, you try but can\’t get one and decide to apply anyway, all the other rules for the cover letter still apply. At last resort you can address your letter to the Director of Human Resources, by name.

Some of the possible jobs that you can find the in the dentistry field include a certified dental assistant, surgical technologists, dental hygienists, a college dental assistant who helps instructors teach other would-be medical technicians or you could be (gasp) a dentist. Just think, you could be helping someone improve their self-esteem and confidence by giving them a whiter and brighter smile that they have always dreamed about having. You may also be able to improve your own smile with that new paycheck you will be drawing in by being a certified medical technician to a cosmetic dentist. Research the company well enough that you can note something in your cover letter that is not well known, not mentioned in the job description and proves you have taken time, serious time to learn about them, their products and services. How do you say all that in just three paragraphs, four at the very most, and leave a lot of white space on ONE page? That is what will take an hour to do. By doing so you will demonstrate your writing skills and your uniqueness as a candidate. This in not accomplished by reducing the type size and margins.
