An ear infection happens when the small portion of the ear behind the eardrum, called the middle ear, gets infected. Germs from the nose and throat frequently get trapped inside the middle ear which results in the problem. The infection forms when two tubes referred to as Eustachian tubes swell due to a cold. The swelling becomes so severe that the tubes become obstructed and trap fluid. Germs begin to grow in the trapped fluid and bring about the infection. Kids are more susceptible to these infections since their tubes are a lot smaller and get obstructed much easier.
