I have an 18 month old son and I haven\’t yet considered doing a search to find a pediatric dentist because my general/family dentist as provided all the dental answers I need for my kids. My general dentist has always seemed to do well with kids and could be considered a pediatric dentist. This is may be similar for the pediatric dentist Fremont CA. Most general dentistry offices will have pediatric dentist services for children. However, taking the time to search for a pediatric dentist for your kids may be especially beneficial. This is because a pediatric dentist has training in children psychology and how to communication on a kids level. This training of a pediatric dentist can be especially helpful for children with a lot of fears about a visit at the dentist office.
A Pediatric Dentist may talk to your kids about the dental tools he/she is using and what the dental tools are used for. A pediatric dentist will get on your kids level and may have stickers or something to make the dental visit something to look forward to. A pediatric dentist will know how to talk to your kids about how to brush their teeth and floss and maintain healthy dental hygiene habits. A pediatric dentist may have dental charts or other things for kids to motivate them to brush their teeth daily and mark off when your kids do brush their teeth. Children activities such as these are more available at a pediatric dentist office rather than a dentistry that doesn\’t have a trained pediatric dentist.
I remember when me and my siblings were kids we went to a pediatric dentist. Although, we didn\’t know it was a pediatric dentist, we just thought all dentists were like our kids dentist. Luckily our pediatric dentist was local, just downtown–maybe a five-minute drive from our house. The pediatric dentist always had a toothbrush with fun animal characters and different colors just for kids that we could choose to take home. I remember us kids showing off our choice of dental toothbrush to each other on our ride home. Because of this simple pediatric dentist practice I was excited to brush my teeth and maintain healthy dental hygiene. Of course, my mother\’s reminders about brushing my teeth were also helpful!
I also remember our pediatric dentist office had a wall at the end of the hall that had rows and rows of stickers. The dental assistant would take us to the wall of stickers when our pediatric dentist appointment was finished and we got to choose a sticker–if we were \”good\” during our dental appointment and stayed in our dental chair and did what the pediatric dentist asked. I don\’t have any fears about going to the dentist now and I believe that is because I had a good dental experience as kids at our local pediatric dentist.
It\’s too bad that my pediatric dentist from when we were children is old and retired, otherwise I would take my kids to my pediatric dentist today. Pediatric Dentist Yesterday and Today
