Here\’s an interesting question to ask yourself: is your mind keeping you overweight? Your weight loss efforts will eventually fail if your motivation and desire to lose weight isn\’t supported by your subconscious mind. Sure, you may be successful in losing weight, but you won\’t be able to keep it off without a struggle.
The reason most people struggle with weight issues is because there is the motivation and desire in their subconscious to stay overweight. It does not matter how fervent your conscious desires and motivations are; the subconscious will always \”win out\” in the end.
Your subconscious is not your enemy; it is simply doing what it has been programmed to do. Just like your computer, your mind is running off of prewritten script and it does not know what commands are good or bad. Your job is to rewrite the program to support a healthy lifestyle conducive to permanent weight loss.
Reprogramming your mind puts you on autopilot toward permanent weight loss. What\’s even more exciting is that once you finally achieve permanent weight loss, you will automatically be doing the things you need to do to stay thing.
Anyone who is familiar with computer know what a virus is and how it can destroy a computer. The essence is that a program with lethal code is written, disguised as something harmless to gain entry, and then seeks out way to infect healthy computers.
This is exactly what is going on with you. You are the computer, and the virus is a negative suggestion or comment. Even when you are successful at reprogramming your mind, there are viruses still seeking to infect it again.
The only way to defend yourself against viruses is to keep it focused on thoughts that are admirable, pure, lovely, right, noble, and true. Whatever goes against those good thoughts, cast it away completely.
Your Subconscious\’s Gatekeeper
That gatekeeper is also know as the Ego. Some hypnotists call it the Critical Factor. Whatever you choose to call it, it has the power to reject or accept any new information you try to pass by it. Being very resistant to change, your Ego likes to keep things exactly the way they are now.
Your Ego will reject any new information that threatens it\’s program of keeping you overweight because that is how your subconscious is programmed. Any new affirmations that suggest you like eating healthy foods or exercising regularly clashes like a loud cymbol against the Ego causing the information to be thrown out immediately. This is why you must learn how to sweet talk your Ego.
The ego (or gatekeeper) is very egotistical! It loves attention and acclamation for a job well done. If your good behavior isn\’t being rewarded regularly, your ego will write it off as being a waste of time.
Celebrating your Ego\’s cooperation is a great way to persuade it that eating healthy and exercising regularly is beneficial to you both. Show your ego what a great job it is doing helping you stay on task by regularly rewarding it with something other than food. How a new pair of smaller-sized jeans!
