2. You should find out if the owner of the appliance repair company is the one doing the actual repairs. Owners of small appliance repair companies usually do their own repairs which means better work.

3. Finding fallen parts: when trying to repair something there are a few small parts which inevitably just fall on to the floor. An easy method which anyone can use to find these parts is to turn off all excess lighting and draw the curtains in order to make sure that the room is dark. Then using a flashlight placed close to the floor you can pick up the shadow of the small part as you swing the flashlight back and forth.

4. Are credit cards accepted? Whether you intend on paying via your credit card or not just knowing that a company accepts plastic indicates that they are successful. The reason is that companies need to go through a rather thorough process which involves background checks prior to them being allowed to accept credit cards. So companies with no track record will not be able to accept credit cards.

5. Power supply problems: Appliances such as heaters, microwave ovens and air conditioners may develop faults owing to problems with the power supply. At first inspection the repairs may look to be difficult but replacing a power supply is relatively easy and in most cases will also fix the problem.

7. Is there a warranty? You need to find out if the appliance repair company is offering a warranty for all the work they are doing. You also need to ask if you\’ll get this in writing, also how long is the warranty valid for.

8. Discharge the appliance: Many appliances such as monitors and televisions tend to store electricity. The electricity stored in them can cause personal harm and so opening them without allowing for it to discharge can be dangerous. Just unplug the devise for a few hours or a day prior to working on it.

9. Always get references from an appliance repair company of other people or businesses they have done work for. A good company will obviously have a good list of references or even if they don\’t they\’ll be glad to put one together.

10. First in and last out: Putting back appliances with many small parts can be difficult. Things can be easier if you just try to remember what you took out last and put that in first, and work in reverse accordingly.
