Aside from the disruption that last weeks snow caused, the mood this week has been frostier than normal and that is pretty much certainly caused by the additional trouble that these flakes bring. Or is it?

I think that the grim reality of a promising (Olympic) year like 2012 is here and yet it hasn't delivered infinite wealth that we were all led straight to expect, so far atleast. During the past few months I have been employing a new strategy of gathering information. We now have a more comprehensive understanding of any business we are likely to become involved in with a potential client.

So what are the findings?

Companies are still failing to plan ahead! This is one of the most elementary rules that we want to learn and adhere to in business, but still so many fail to do that. Do you really think Great Britain would have won the right to host the Olympic Games if they hadn't devised a reasonable plan and then seen it through? Planning is vital for the success of any business particularly should you be looking to grow.

What questions do I truly need to ask?

Here are 1 or 2 important one to get you going:

– Will new business affect the service I offer to existing buyers?

– Is my business consistent or are there any peaks and troughs?

– Am I Able To monitor my marketing spend and see a good ROI?

– Should I stop promoting the business if I have more business than I will cope with?

Can your telemarketing company help with these answers? Have they got a customised advertising strategy and plan in place for all new clients? The answer to these questions should be yes – or perhaps you ought to be looking some place else for you telemarketing services.

Is selling my business really that important?

Yes. Time after time I see companies that plan for the future and market their product well harvest the reward.Companies that are reactive and wait for the business to come to them are like ostriches; they are burying their head in the sand, this can not help, they'll need to come up for air and then they are going to struggle to keep their concerns out of sight.
